Finding a literary
agent can be a daunting task. The mere idea of seeing a coveted contract of representation
plays through our dreams on a daily basis, but just filtering through huge lists
of potential querying targets is a
job all by itself. The list below was created to give you an easy to
read database to facilitate your search.
The
list contains the names and URL's for almost 250 legit agencies. Each
with its website address, city, state, and any preferences found on
the company website. This doesn't excuse you from researching the literary
agency on your own. It's more of a rough roadmap to send you in the
right direction. Always put a lot of time and effort into ensuring
your list of query/proposal agents is narrowed and perfected. Nothing can take the
place of you hashing out a detailed group of candidates.
Narrowing the list starts with looking for agents that specialize
or primarily look for the genre of your novel. Read every detail of
each agent's submission requirements and policies before even thinking
about sending a query letter or proposal.
In this list of literary agents there is a column on the right for
any particular preference or focus an agency has listed on its
website. If the column is blank no preferences or restrictions were
found. These should be accurate, but always research for yourself.
Items listed in red within the "Primary Focus or No Representation"
column are highlighted for specific non-representation comments on the
literary agent's website.
Here's the list... get to the researching and make sure those query
letters are polished to their finest!
